What is Internet Marketing?
Internet marketing is a process that involves using different techniques and methods in order to produce sales and/or obtain leads from potential customers that are browsing the Internet.
Ordinarily, this has conveyed attempting to get your website into search engine rankings in the major search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing, so that it appears on the first page of search results when your potential consumers type in a “keyword phrase”. This has been somewhat of a challenge for many online businesses to do. That's why a lot of companies work with Internet marketing specialists and consultants to get their websites to the top of the search engine rankings for specific "keyword phrases" that are relevant to their business. This consulting service is called Search Engine Optimization or SEO.
Another very popular method Internet marketing has grown to include is Pay Per Click Advertising or PPC for short. These are the ads that show up on the right hand side or sometimes on the top of the page when someone does a search in Google, Yahoo or MSN's Bing. These ads are written by advertisers that want their ads to show up only when certain "keyword phrases" are searched on in the search engine. When a person clicks on the advertiser's ad, the searcher will be sent to the advertiser’s website, and the advertiser is charged a fee for that “click”.
Google's PPC advertising program, Google Adwords, receives the most Internet traffic and is the most popular to use among advertisers.
